Alright, perhaps we need to make a change to the system because everyone is getting older and way more busy.
Let's pitch ideas for a possible workout revolution so that we move quicker, but don't require this large amount of work.
My idea (combined with Frosty and Kenren):
1. 1 written workout for each season both undercard/HOTY. Total is 4 workouts a SIM year. (Frosty's idea)
2. Articles on a monthly basis from each stable with regard to how your horses are performing in workouts, but you DO NOT have to write the descriptive workouts like we do now.
For example a small blurb would be: Sun King worked his third consecutive workout at Witch Creek this past week. His time for five furlongs on the dirt was :58 3/5ths. Ripley stated publicly to the press that the colt has never looked better. It doesn't have to be this short, but it is completely acceptable.
3. Additional workouts may be written but they do not count anymore as "extra attention", which allows more RP time.
They could be placed in a separate area if the author wants a record of work with the horse, but are not what should be judged on in races.
4. Workouts that are required for HOTY races: DO NOT count beyond the race they were written for.
For example: a workout written for the Kentucky Derby, does not count for the Preakness Stakes or for an undercard race. It only counts for that race
This allows for undercard horses to make the jump into HOTY races.
This means that all horses have 1 workout for each of the four seasons by the end of the year, equaling 4 workouts a year, therefore leveling the playing field outside the top level races noted below. (Kenren's idea)
Perhaps we require workouts for:
Dubai World Carnival
Unicorn Horn Series - Could be a seasonal workout in lieu of specific HOTY workout to prevent overwork.
each leg of the TC/TT/TTT/TTC/CTC/RM/GM & the major sprinter 3yo races
Dawn Treader Cup races
Follow The Hoofprints Series
Twilight Stakes
Youth Challenge & Turf Challenge
the Dubai Filly/Colt & World Cup races
Older Dirt Series - Who's More Youthful, Kiss Your Title Stakes, Senior Superstars Finale
Older Turf Series - Caufield Cup, Cox Plate, Melbourne Cup
Breeders Cup
It would cut down massively on our workloads but still give value to the largest HOTY/champion making races.
